B Bar Ranch…
A State of Mind

We are committed to sustaining this ecosystem for future generations and are open to testing new and innovative ranching practices and sharing them.

We believe that no matter what you are responsible for, act as a positive steward of it. At the B Bar Ranch, our stewardship practices are devised of three main categories: land, humans, and fauna. The sacred relationship that we share with our ecosystem constantly requires us to consider many aspects when finding balance. Navigating difficulties is rarely a quick fix, we use the B Bar Ranch as a laboratory to test and observe problem-solving tactics from all angles.

Why we care

At the B Bar, we are ambitious to recognize each part of our ecosystems for us to be the best stewards possible. We are learning to master two prominent aspects that positively impact our community: raising a sustainable food source through regenerative agriculture and promoting wellness and discovery through rejuvenating retreats. Looking internally and evaluating the cause and effect of our practices, allows us to impact variables within our ecosystems. Sharing what we learn from our practices, we aim to influence an extrinsic spectrum of people, organizations, and communities to consider a more holistic approach.

The B Bar Way stems from organic problem-solving methods and considers all parts from soil health to mental health. Instead of fighting challenges, we welcome their complexities and manage our practices to find more thoughtful solutions. This highly optimistic perspective allows us to act with more curiosity to generate healthy responses instead of defaulting to knee-jerk reactions.

Employees of the B Bar Ranch are an equal part of the ecosystem as any other. Eleanore, who has worked at the Ranch for 27 years remarks, “One of the things that keeps me here is there is always a problem to solve.” With a tight-knit team and direct connection to the owner, everyone’s voice is heard and interpersonal relationships are valued with attention and care.

Balance is considered as much within each individual’s psyche as the ecosystem at large. Mark, the land and livestock manager, recalls, “It was a beautiful sunny April day in my first year working at the Ranch when I had a realization. I found myself running across the parking lot headed for the tractor to complete my next task when it dawned on me that I wasn’t actually in a hurry. An emphasis instilled by Maryanne, the owner, is to act thoughtfully and methodically about what you do and do it well. This idea is drastically different from my previous job and took some getting used to, but overall has improved my quality of work and life.”

The B Bar prides itself on afflicting the hustle and bustle of daily routines with an understanding of how those actions affect the individual and the greater world. Trina, the guest operations manager of 11 years, remarks, “At my previous corporate job I could work a 10-hour day and be mentally and physically spent and not have energy for anything else when I got home. My job at the Ranch still requires hard work, but after a 10-hour day here I still have the energy to pursue discovering my passions. The way that you go about problem-solving and the problems that arise, it's different in the setting of the B Bar than it is in other places. It has taught me to take time and enjoy my surroundings and live at a slower pace.”

“The B Bar Ranch isn’t just a place, it’s a state of mind.” Most noticeably visitors of the B Bar stand in awe feeling stunted by the beautiful landscape. This perception inspires one to look introspectively
at the splendor of life as a whole.
