A Special Place

Ranch Activities and Our Core Values

Essentially, B Bar is designed to let you experience the essence of life on this ranch. Appeal to all your senses. Touch mind, body, spirit. Connect you to the land. The elements of this offering vary with the weather and the season. Whether you’re here to learn, explore, or simply unwind, each experience. Respect, relationship, reciprocity.

Relationship to Place

Here in Tom Miner Basin, we honor both the land’s heritage and its wild nature. Our approach draws wisdom from native worldviews that recognize all living things as relatives deserving of respect and care. This understanding shapes how we develop and use the land – concentrating our presence to just three building areas, minimizing roads and fencing, and carefully managing wildlife interactions. Whether you’re hiking our mountain trails or observing grizzlies in their natural habitat, we invite you to experience this landscape with the same reverence that guides our daily work.

Stewardship in Practice

At B Bar Ranch, our approach to ranching grows from deep observation and respect for natural patterns. Through management intensive grazing, we work to strengthen soil health and native grass communities, allowing proper rest and recovery between grazing periods. Our gentle approach to livestock handling, grounded in trust and clear communication, honors both cattle and horses as partners in this work.

Living with the Land

Our story is woven into the larger tapestry of this landscape – from its ancient geology and Native peoples to the waves of settlement, extraction, and tourism that have shaped the American West. Today, as we face challenges from changing climate to wildlife conflicts, we continue learning from this land. Through thoughtful forest management and wildlife coexistence, we demonstrate how working lands can enhance rather than diminish the natural world.

As both a working ranch and gathering place, B Bar offers unique opportunities to experience and understand thoughtful land stewardship. Whether you’re here to learn about ranching practices, explore Western history, or find renewal through yoga and meditation, each visit adds to our ongoing story of caring for this remarkable place.
