B Bar Gazette – October 2023

B Bar Monthly Gazette
Issue #5 October 2023
We have enjoyed a glorious autumn the last three weeks here in Tom Miner Basin. Though some leaves still cling to the trees, the profusion of fall foliage has passed, leaving us with stark, awe-inspiring vistas. Freshly snowcapped mountains slice through the mist while the morning sun illuminates the remaining golden leaves. We cherish these warm mornings knowing winter's arrival is imminent. The musky, earthy scent of fallen leaves mingles with the crisp air as we inhale the essence of this breathtaking season.

The beginning of a short autumn.
With less than two weeks left in our current guest season, we eagerly anticipate the tranquil days ahead. Fittingly, our final group embarks on a silent retreat, dedicating their time to mindfulness and harmonizing with the ecosystem's rhythm.
It's an extraordinary time to immerse ourselves in nature's wonders. Grizzlies diligently dig for caraway root packing on the pounds for a long hibernation, elk protect their carefully guarded harems with mighty bugles, and moose nurture their families amid the willows. Our wranglers are busy loading the last of our cattle, which will soon find their winter home at the B Bar in Big Timber and we bid fond farewell and thanks to our wonderful seasonals now heading out to their next adventures.

Meanwhile, the shoulder season at the B Bar is hardly a time for rest. We're busy splitting wood, winterizing the A-frames, dropping fences for ease of wildlife movement, deep cleaning our structures, performing maintenance, putting our gardens to rest, clearing and prepping our ski trails, and preparing our snow machines for the inevitable arrival of the first significant snowfall. Our thoughts turn to winter season!

Beginning December 23rd, our gates open for individuals like you to rent accommodations and embrace the serene hush of our insulated ecosystem. Keep an eye on our website, social media, and email notifications for updates on our 20 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails in Tom Miner Basin. We're excited to unveil winter retreats and educational courses, offering unique ways for you to engage with the Ranch.

For now, let's savor each lingering autumn day as we know they are cherished and fleeting. Warmly,
